I didn't say that my check was not made out to us & the mortgage company.  I
was jusy saying that even though my mortgage would not escrow the flood
insurance, I could still pay it myself.  And I was not required to carry
flood insurance, either.

Not true- I livied  flood zone B was not required to carry flood insurance, 
but I did, paid by check each year and the check was made out to me and 
Standard Mortgage Company. Whoever is listed on the title is on the check.
