ST. BERNARD PARISH CITIZEN'S RECOVERY COMMITTEE PRESENTS PROPOSED PROJECTS
TO THE ST. BERNARD PARISH COUNCIL

On Tuesday, February 21, 2006, the St. Bernard Parish Citizen's Recovery
Committee (CRC) will present its findings to the St. Bernard Parish Council
at their regularly scheduled meeting (11:00 AM). Proposed projects
covering the areas of Infrastructure & Transportation; Financial
Outreach/Fiscal Responsibility; Public Health; Education; Economic
Development; Housing; Environmental & Public Safety; and Coastal Protection
will be submitted to the Council for review and a Council vote. A written
comprehensive report then must be submitted to the Louisiana Recovery
Authority by February 28, 2006.
Background:

On Tuesday, November 15, 2005, the St. Bernard Parish Council adopted a
resolution establishing The St. Bernard Parish Citizen's Recovery Committee
(CRC) as an ad hoc citizen action committee. The goal of the Committee is
to help and advise the St. Bernard Parish Council on the adoption of a long
term community recovery plan, as requested by the Louisiana Recovery
Authority (LRA), to respond to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina
and Rita.
Council Chairman, Joey DiFatta, named the Honorable Judge David Gorbaty and
Louisiana Recovery Authority appointee, Walter Leger, Esquire, as
Co-Chairmen of the 36 member Parish Citizens Recovery Committee.
The Committee actively sought input from all St. Bernard Parish citizens.
Parish displaced residents overwhelmingly responded with their ideas via
public meetings in St. Bernard Parish and through the CRC's web site
(www.stbpcrc.com). The CRC fully embraced all ideas, thoughts, and
suggestions relative to developing a Vision to rebuild St. Bernard Parish
and enhance each citizen's quality of life.
