The highway project is a done deal to Paris Rd.  The ground breaking is
scheduled to start this year.  The discussion is to extend the project to
the Violet Canal as well as to move the part that is already approved to
inside the levee.  There have been other proposals in the past that involved
the Florida Ave. corridor.  There is no doubt that an additional east-west
corridor was needed and will be beneficial to many not just a few.
 
As far as funding, the project will come from a different pot- housing will
not be sacrificed for the highway.  Many of the proposed projects will run
into the same issue and that is finding funding for them.  Many great ideas,
but the money has to be found for them to become realities.  First steps
first and that is to get the housing issue somewhat settled.
