Willard-Lewis to hold power restoration press conference for Lower 9th Ward

Councilwoman Willard Lewis will be joined by clergy and community leaders
from Lower Nine at the 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1 press conference to be
held in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Willard Lewis will announce that Entergy is prepared to hook up electricity
connections now for the Lower Ninth Ward, the Sewerage & Water Board plans
to begin delivering safe water to the area by March 15 and FEMA contractors
will be ready to hook up hundreds of trailers at 75 sites throughout the
Lower Ninth Ward. Depending on the size of the site, each site will have
between four and fifty trailers at the selected locations.

The breakthrough grew out of a series of meetings between Councilwoman
Willard Lewis and residents of Lower Nine meeting with representatives of
Entergy, FEMA, the S&WB, state government representatives, the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers and the Mayor's Office of Housing.
