My sentiments exactly!

 Thanks for having the nerve to state your feelings....

No one gave us anything...we worked hard...very hard for everything we have
accomplished...

I give to the charities of my choice...as of this time "The Parish" is not
one of them...

I feel that in 40 years something could have been accomplished with the MRGO
and protecting the marsh land from further destruction...destroyed by the
MRGO...instead...nothing was done...nothing, as we now know that was
substantial enough to protect us from 12 to 20 feet of water...

Studies... perhaps because...everything is studied to death...monies wasted
on that...instead of spending money to protect lives...this could have been
and should have been done....many years ago...

Everyone should have been made better aware of the MRGO problems....if done
properly...a high percentage of parish residents could have gone to
Washington...or at least made their concerns for a better levee protection
system..."demanded" better...many years ago...this could and should have
been a major campaign....

I lived in the parish for over 30 years...I never saw or heard of anything
being done.

Where was the fight in the last 40 years? 

NOW...lives and property are important...as well as "some people's jobs"...I
suspect...

While my job is gone...it will return again....hopefully this year...is
someone paying my salary...in the meantime...NO...is someone paying for a
decent place for me to live...NO...Is someone giving me the difference in
cost to relocate to a safer place...NO...

Myself, as well as many others, had homes paid for or nearly paid for, we
will now have to have mortgages once again....because prices have gone sky
high for those in desperate need of housing... Is someone going to give us
the difference in cost...most of these people are either retirement age or
close to it...My guess to this is...an astounding...NO....So.....why should
I give 25% to "The Parish"?....Why....

Oh...yeah...I forgot...I could take my money....the little that I have...and
build back in the parish...where the levee system is being built back to
pre-Katrina standards...is the marsh protection back yet?....give the parish
my 25%....oh...yeah and we all can just sit and wait for another storm to
wipe us out again....that makes sense!
