Hi Deb,

At the risk of sounding like Lynn Dean, the LRA really isn't paying for all
this - we, the taxpayers are. I'm not complaining about the process they
are using - I'm just skeptical because history rests on the side of
skepticism with anything Louisiana politicians stick their fingers in. The
one thing I believe we are all learning through this process is just how
inept most of our elected officials are - I said "most" not all. There are
some out there prooving the worth in salt

Still, what I am proposing is in no way different from what recently
happened with the group that traveled to the Netherlands to learn how
they've developed sytems to fight flooding. So I propose to get a team of
folks over to Homestead, Florida - study and learn what they did, bring it
back to the public here and present it to them (and public officials) for
feedback. After all, no one, and I mean no one has even mentioned
Homestead. I find it ridiculous (and a lack of common sense) that these so
called experts on rebuilding plans have failed to mention the one town or
city in the southern U.S. that comes closest to having experienced and
understand what we are going through here - unless of course there's someone
still alive from the hurricane of 1904 that hit Galveston.

Or, maybe someone can pick up a phone and call Homestead officials and have
their planning team come pay us a visit. Deborah, for me it's not the
process as much as the end result of the process that matters. I simply
believe until we take a look at some town or city that's already been
through the same exact problem and found a solution, we're spinning our
wheels looking areas to see what they did.

All I see are a lot of professional consultants making a lot of money giving
lip service......sorry about the venting.

John Scurich
