TREES TO BE PLANTED IN ST. BERNARD PARISH

Many of the beautiful trees found on America's Gulf Coast were damaged by
Hurricane Katrina. St Bernard Parish will be receiving 1,000 trees. On
Saturday March 11, 2006, the Parish will be giving away the trees (at the
former Council on Aging building from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm) to parish
residents that want to replace trees that were lost during the storm.

The National Audubon Society and The National Arbor Day Foundation are
sponsoring this Tree Recovery Campaign. The campaign was launched last year
to assist in the region's tree recovery efforts. Through the Katrina Tree
Recovery Campaign, people across America have answered the call to help
replant trees in coastal Mississippi and Louisiana through financial
donations that, to date, will result in the shipment of over 23,000 trees.

The trees being given away are red oak, live oak, cypress, and maple. Any
remaining trees will be planted by Hilltop Rescue at the Sebastopol
Plantation until they are ready to be used to beautify the parish at a later
time.
