I was in the parish this past weekend. I drove from Arabi all the way down
to Yscloski. My heart is saddened by the lack of progress that has been
made thus far. I can't believe that the parish is still totally destroyed.
I spoke with several people from different areas of the parish and they have
raised some very interesting questions. Such as: 1. why are certain well
known political figures and parish officials buying up selective pieces of
property, of course at discount prices. 2. why would they take a trailer
park for a buffer zone, then buyout Bartolo Dr., but leave Munster Dr. open?

3. Why would Mr. Dean let all of these trailers be put on his property, yet
fight against everything that the parish is trying to do for the people? 4.
Why has the Archdiocese left the cemetaries to go to ruin. 5. Why has the
parish basically left the lower end of the parish to fend for themselves,
when this end of the parish is the core of St. Bernard. Oh so many
questions but so few answers. These are just a few of the many questions
that I heard this past weekend. But one thing I must say: if you need some
good food, then Ben's Pizza on Judge Perez Dr. in Meraux is the place to go.

Take care and God bless.

Ben
