Yes I am for the clean up. By the way Deborah I am your almost neighbor.

Some excellent points have been posted, especially about pulling together
and helping one another. Couldn't the parish promote sometime in late April
after URG has a chance to catch up on a month of debris removal, a PEOPLE
HELPING PEOPLE CLEANUP THE PARISH DAY. This would be a day when every former
resident and property owner, their family and friends, and volunteers from
all over are asked to return to the EXTERIOR of their properties with
rakes, brooms, and garbage bags, lawn mowers, etc. and clean up the front
and back of the property (NOT THE
INSIDE) to the extent that they can. We know they can't move cars off lawns,
or tool sheds and trees, but we can all work together to pick up the stuff
thrown out the doors and left on the yards and bag it. And if your property
is done, go help another person who showed up to work on theirs. How much
faster and cleaner that could be! We don't need government to do that for
us. How much faster it would be for the trucks to pick up bags of litter
instead of front end loaders scooping
it up! Let's show pride and spirit to America and ourselves. What has
become of our society? This is what people did after Betsy. It has nothing
to do with demolishing or gutting the house, or deciding where you will
rebuild your life. You own it, you have a responsibility and we can all help
one another.

I propose April 30 be declared, PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE CLEANUP DAY IN ST.
BERNARD PARISH. If you like the idea, I'll pursue it by asking Craig about
petitioning the parish council to declare it. What do you think? Please
provide feedback, positive and negative, so we can all get a feel for what
the public reaction would be.

Thanks,
Deborah Keller
