When we came back in October, we didn't want to put any money into the
gutting, either, without knowing what was in store for our area, especially
since we were in the oil area. We gutted our house ourselves, figuring that
if we couldn't come back all we wasted was our time.  If we could come back,
then we were ahead of the game.  Leaving our house the same as it was after
Aug 29 was not an option.  It wouldn't have been fair to the few of our
neighbors who are coming back.

I totally agree and you said it well. Many people who are staying are making
emotional decisions not based on anything solid.  Money and financial
investment in property matters. I will not waste my family's resources.
