As a parent of a Hannan graduate and a current Hannan student (before
Katrina) I have supported the school and will continue to support Hannan no
matter the location. I am from St. Bernard and it will always be close to
my heart. Hannan yes was supported by the community in St.
Bernard; they also had a variety of students from other areas including New
Orleans East, the Westbank, and Metairie that I am sure their parents
supported it also. Everyone thinks that since Hannan is not reopening in
St. Bernard it is abandoning St. Bernard, but in truth there are not enough
students in the area to support reopening at this time. So it was decided to
relocate Hannan to the North Shore where they can keep the Hannan tradition
and spirit going for those who choose to attend. As for the money, it should
go towards the new Hannan with a percentage going towards OLPS for when they
decide to have a high school curriculum with the hope that one day there
will be enough children to support opening a Catholic High School regardless
it be Hannan or another school. Everyone is doing what they believe is best
for their family and the Archdiocese is doing what they believe is best for
Hannan and the Hannan Family.

The money should go to HHS, but for it to stay in St. Bernard, who supported
it all of these years. How do think it was able to survive and expand as
much as it did ? It was because of the parents of the kids who went there,
the businesses in the parish and the residents. HHS did not belong to just
Mr. Serio or the archdiocese. It belonged to all of US.

My question to these comments about Archbishop Hannan High is this...why
shouldn't the money go to HHS...they lost their school and everything in
it...so what's the big deal here?
