For those needing copies of sacramental records from the Archdiocese of New
Orleans, the archives have important info and instructions.
The Archives of the Archdiocese of New Orleans has worked diligently since
Hurricane Katrina to maintain and preserve the sacramental records of each
church parish.

The post-1920 sacramental records for archdiocesan parishes, except those
listed below in the archives, are located in the individual parishes.
Contact the parish office for information and certificates.
The following records are in the archdiocesan archives:

1. All sacramental volumes ending prior to Jan. 1, 1921. All genealogy
research has been temporarily suspended until the archives returns to New
Orleans, and requests for genealogy information cannot be accommodated. A
notice will be placed on the genealogy page of the archdiocesan archives'
Web site (www.archdiocese-no.org/archives) when this research resumes.

2. The following post-1920 parish sacramental records were damaged or lost
during Hurricane Katrina. The restored records are presently in Baton Rouge.
Certificates are issued from restored registers and/or microfilm. Requests
for current certificates should be addressed to Dorenda Dupont, Archdiocesan
Archives, at (225) 242-0217; FAX (225) 242-0299; or e-mail at
