MINUTES OF OPERATIONS BRIEFING
Monday April 8, 2006, 8:00 a.m.

Dave Peratla, Chief Administrative Officer presiding.
Present: 29

Emergency Operations: Larry Ingargiola.
1. Meeting with Corps on Thursday and Friday for the Hurricane workshops.
Junior and myself will be attending.
2. We have assistance coming in from Fema and the State on the evacuation
plan.
3. A contractor with homeland security is getting someone to do the
aftermath report. This is a $25,000 dollar contract that will be paid by
the office of homeland security.
4. We are working on our own evacuation plan. It should be ready by the end
of this week then forwarded to the state for approval.

Community Development: Michael Hunnicutt.
1. Home Depot will provide equipment to repair the flag pole on Paris Road.

Public Works and Water and Sewer: Chris Merkl
1. Curry reported as of April 7 URG picked up 263,617 of debris, 1.465
million cubic yards and 106,700 white goods. We are continuing to
reallocate crews, making sure no crew sits idol, working in the heaviest
areas, Lexington and the expanded Murphy oil footprint area.

2. Opening bids tomorrow for water and sewer on contracts for private
trailer installation.
3. Curry reported DOTD will only pickup debris in right-of-way.

Recovery: John Rahaim Status quo.

Public Assistance:
Residential: Craig Taffaro.
1. Still pushing the trailer issue. Tentative date for Fema and Fluor
Trailer Rally, Saturday May 20th, 2006, open to public for resolution of
trailers to accommodate those who are still in the system.
2. Council panel review today starting at 9:00 a.m.

Business: Charles Ponstein
1. J&R Quick Stop will be opening in two weeks, inquired about getting those
trucks moved off of that property. Merkl said he will take care of that.
2. Shrimp season is scheduled to open May 15th, 2006, working on Brenton
Sound dock for ice.

Volunteers: Gidget McDougall
1. Went to the forum on Saturday with Ms. Hutter. A question arose, who
will determine the percentage of damage on each house? Craig said LRA will
have their own inspector to determine the damage.
2. Someone contacted me about opening their business in Arabi. They have
contacted Bell South they were told they could not get the internet service.
Dave said we will contact Bell South to see where their services are in our
area.
Private Non-Profit: Judy Hoffmeister
1. Civic Center will be open now from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the AC is now
working.

Agriculture/Wildlife and Fisheries: Ricky Melerine. Not present.

Lake Borgne Basin Levee District: Bob Turner.
1. Levee work is on schedule.
2. Bayou Bienvenue still has a problem. We are trying to get the channel
cleared so we can close it by June 1st.
3. Canal work choke points are processing very well.
Pump Stations:
Pump 7; had a problem but back on line now.
Pump 6; problem with an engine repaired last week, as well as the emergency
standby generator.
Pump 8; we also repaired an emergency standby generator.
We had a company come in and inspect the main drive chain for stations 6, 7,
and 8 of the whole system everything checked out okay. We are in good shape
as far as pumps go right now.
Stations; 1, 4, 6, 7, and 8 are all ok.
Stations 5; 4 out of the 6 pumps are up, we could run down there if we had
to again that's another one of the stations that are going to be rebuilt.
4. I need phone lines to be hooked up.
5. I need a point of contact for the Chalmette Refining and the Sugar
refinery due to some issues.

Medical: Dr. Bertucci.
Medical Clinic Update:
1. We are still not in the 22 K building. I did receive a list of equipment.
2. Public Health is having a meeting today on free drug program.

EMS: Janie Fuller. Status quo.
Trying to get a second unit here being the population has increased.

Public Safety: Sheriff=s Office. Pete Tafaro
1. We have a SWAT training tomorrow starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Dean site,
and NOPD will be there to assist us.
2. Asked where the rally would be held on May 20. Craig said he will
schedule it but most likely in the brown and white tent.
3. Checked with Sheriff Stephens for location of a water gauge and that can
be placed on our side of the bridge at Bayou Bienvenue, if need be Tufaro
has property along waterway which he offered.
4. Reported he will be leaving Tuesday for Albany, New York, to pick up a
SWAT truck.

Fire Department: A.J. Surentine. Status quo.

CDC and DEQ: Wayne Desselle.
1. Solid waste disposal: want their 20 boxes from ACTI.


EPA: Not present.

Murphy Oil:
1. Status quo. 290,000 total cubic yards.


Education: Ronnie Alonzo. Not present.
Parish Government:
Council: Lynn Dean. Not present.
Parks and Recreation: John Metzler, Jr.
1. We had a baseball tournament this past weekend at Rebel Park for 7 - 8
year olds. Everything went well.

Finance: Geremie Loupe.
Personnel: Kevin Clark. Not present.
Insurance: Mike Wiltz. Not present.
Long Term Recovery: Marvin LeBlanc. Not present.

General Information:
Next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2006, 8:00 a.m., in CAO's
conference room on the second floor of the Government Complex.
