Jer,

Mandatory demolition will vary and cannot be assumed simply by the damage
assessment ratings. We all know the problems these have been. If a owner
chooses to address the repairs forced demolition will not be an issue-but
even properties that have been in the 30 -60% range that are abandoned will
likely be taken down because to repair them would be too costly to the
parish; FEMA will not pay for the houses to be repaired by government, but
if the present a health and safety hazard they qualify for demolition.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and God Bless,
Craig

Craig, what I am asking is not if free demolitions are available to all in
ANY CONDITION.

I'm asking about the determination process (in my case: damaged 30-60% by
FEMA at the onset). Is this rating considered damaged enough so that it
would require mandatory demolition or a fix-up job? Are most homeowners
gauging their decision to demolish by that rating? Also, would this rating
be used as to help make a decision to raze it? Everyone in my neighborhood
and Chalmette had at least 8-10 feet of water it seems. For the most part,
they should be equally as ruined as submitted by FEMA in paying claims as
100% destroyed.

Jer.
