[StBernard] Get Together

Westley,

Sorry, but I don't have specific suggestions, but I was thinking of some
place that might be a "travel compromise." It's difficult to accurately
guage where most of the "da-parish" residents are located, but I get the
impression most are on the Northshore, Metairie or Westbank, some in the
river parishes, and a lot are in Mississippi. I was thinking a more central
location, like in St. Tammany.

Let me suggest this. Among anyone out there who feels they will "most
likely" attend this gathering, ring in with your current location. Westley,
if you are keeping tabs the maybe we can quickly guage where a good "common"
location would be. Also, since I'm in the parish pretty much every day with
appraisals, my observations tell me I'm not really sure of anyplace I'd want
to have this in St. Bernard where I feel it is "really" clean and inviting
for kids to run around and play - particularly if we're talking about a
picnic type of event.

Also, if we do a picnic/BBQ event, what's the set up? Pot luck or catered?
If Pot Luck, who will coordinate who brings what? If catered, then who is
going to make arrangements with a caterer? How is it going to be paid for?
How many people do you have the caterer prepare for? .....see where I'm
going with this. If the Northshore turns out to be a good location, there's
John Slidell Park in Slidell and the municiple park in Mandeville right next
to Mandeville City Hall. Both are very nice.

Taking weather into consideration, maybe we need to consider an indoor
location - maybe some restaurant or catering hall that can accommodate such
a gathering on short notice. I know of a restuarant or two in the
Mandeville area that normally doesn't open until 5 PM on a Saturday, but
might very well be willing to open a few hours early just for us. For those
of you in the Mandeville area, I'm thinking of Petunia's family restaurant
on Hwy. 59 - grrrreat food, great menu at very reasonable prices.

Perhaps at this point we just need to start getting commitments from anyone
who is confident they will be attending and how many will be in their party.

I'll start with myself: 2 people definitely coming. I favor a St. Tammany
location.

John Scurich
