[StBernard] suspend planning commission

Jill, the planning commissioners were told by the chair and the (now
outgoing) director of Community Development that the council wanted to
suspend the Planning Commission right after the storm and the council was
told that were enough commissioners readily available to have a quorum and
therefore, there was no legal grounds to suspend the commission. Whatever
else transpired between council and Office of Community Development, I
haven't been privy to. It came as no surprise to me that Hunnicutt resigned
this week. Community Development has an incredibly hard working staff that
is down to a handful of people.  I  know many of you have had issues with
that office dealing with permits, demolition, waivers, etc. , but their work
load is enormous, the rules keep changing, and they are just trying to do
the work assignments as they are told to do by department heads and the
administration. Pray for them.
