Realtors group donates just under $1,000 to recovery program in St. Bernard.

A realtors group has donated just under $1,000 to St. Bernard Parish's
Department of Recovery for use in the program of volunteers who have been
removing storm debris from the homes of the elderly and handicapped.

Certified Residents Specialists, a sub-group of the Louisiana Realtors
Association, donated a check on Thursday to David Dysart, head of the
Recovery Department. The money was collected from their organization
members, said Dysart, who thanked the group.

Such donations are used to operate Camp Hope at the site of the former
Willie Smith School in Violet, where volunteers gutting homes for the
elderly and handicapped have lived since June 1 when a similar camp formerly
funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency closed near the St.
Bernard Port.

Other groups have also made donations in the past to help the volunteer
program.
Any other group interested in making a donation can contact Dysart's office
at (504) 278-4459.
