Practice run for hurricane to be held by parish government.

It's a practice run for a hurricane that St. Bernard Parish officials hope
they don't have to respond to for real.
On Monday at 10 a.m. they will test a new emergency communications system,
go over contingency plans and review essential personnel to determine what
parish employees would stay in the event that a major hurricane was coming
and an evacuation order had been issued for parish residents.

"We will use it as a test. It's a good practice run,'' Parish President
Henry "Junior'' Rodriguez said, including making sure everyone knows how to
use new communications equipment.
One chief concern that would have to be dealt with in an actual hurricane
would be what would happen to FEMA travel trailers throughout the parish in
the event of high winds, Rodriguez said.
Larry Ingargiola, head of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for
parish government, said a practice session is necessary to "make sure
everybody is on the same page.''
