RESULTS PUBLISHED ON HOMELAND SECURITY'S SURVEY OF SMALL
BUSINESSES IN SOUTHERN LOUISIANA FOLLOWING 2005 HURRICANES

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and Rita just one year ago, the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security's Private Sector Office
<http://www.dhs.gov/dhspublic/interapp/editorial/editorial_0422.xml> (PSO)
held three workshops in southern Louisiana to collect facts about the
condition of small businesses impacted in the region.

The workshops were held in New Orleans (October 6, 2005), Belle Chasse in
Plaquemines Parish (October 12), and Lake Charles (December 15).

Business owners and senior managers were asked in individual surveys about
the effects on their business and property, sales losses, infrastructure
restoration, employee housing capacity, and related topics.

Over 1,000 detailed surveys were completed and in the following months,
follow-up surveys were made, with over 35 percent of the original
participants responding. The results of this analysis are contained in the
attached report. Click here <http://www.wtcno.org/email/katrinasurvey.pdf>
