[StBernard] demo priority

Deborah,

regarding an old email about the priority list of sign ups for demo- it
would work and would be a great concept if the properties were one in one
out in the FEMA approval process, but there is no mechanism in their system
that allows properties to be considered in their system in that manner as
well as the environmental... Theoretically, it should work that way but we
all know that it hasn't to this point.

Good luck and God Bless,
Craig

Having read today that the parish will give demolition priority to those
owners who already signed up for demo (and that the parish hopes that will
all be done in September), and then the parish will turn to the 600 or so
properties on the condemnation list that was published yesterday, here's an
idea.

Many of those who have been signed up for months are waiting to start
construction of a new home on that lot. If the parish would allow anyone on
the demolition list to bring a copy of their contractor's contract agreement
as proof they are ready to start construction, couldn't these folks get
priority? Just seems that those ready to rebuild could go before those who
have no intentions of rebuilding. I have both types of relatives and they
all think this is not only fair, but in the best interest of the parish to
jump start recovery.

Craig, has this been explored? And can the parish get URG to demo everyone
who signed up so far demolished in the next 30 days or so or is that just
extremely optimistic?
