[StBernard] lra valule

Seems like many are having their homes "appraised" by LRA at about $55 sq.
ft. as a pre-Katrina valule. This is totally unacceptable. I gave the LRA
counselor my pre Katrina appraisal done by a certified appraiser in Nov.
2005 for the value as of Aug 28, 2005. It is based on comparable sales of
houses on my street that sold within a year or two of the storm. They said
they would look at any appraisal as long as it was less than Aug 29, 2000,
but I insisted that they take this one that I had done mainly for IRS
documentation.

I do have a ten year old appraisal and it's based on the value of th house
and the lot. If divided by living space it would calculate to be $61 per
sq. ft TEN YEARS AGO. I am researching the consumer price index for
inflation now, and I am sure there is no way the house is worth LESS than
ten years ago or that St. Bernard housing prices didn't increase in ten
years. UNO's business college tracks annual rises on real estate values by
parish, and although St. Bernard has been modest compared to St. Tammany,
it's a positive number.

Perhaps the bankers, appraisers, real estate agents, etc. of St. Bernard can
provide us all with some statistics such as what has been the increase
annually for the past ten years in St. Bernard housing and any sq. ft.
averages for the houses and the land.

We have to join together once we have hard evidence and appeal these bogus
"appraisals". Does anyone know how LRA is determining pre Katrina values,
i.e what is their factual data?
