St. Bernard Parish government has recently begun the application process for
an Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Grant to assess areas in the
parish which have been impacted by the release of petroleum and/or other
hazardous waste, Parish President Henry "Junior'' Rodriguez said.

St. Bernard wouldn't assess area that has been the subject of litigation,
nor would the purpose of the assessment be for future litigation, Rodriguez
said.
He said the program would seek to identify brownfields in St. Bernard Parish
so they may be accounted for during redevelopment of the parish.

St. Bernard welcomes public input and will answer any questions regarding
the EPA Brownsfield program. Inquiries can be directed to Jerry Graves Jr.,
who can be reached at (504) 278-1032.
