Advance Sales Notice: Battle of New Orleans Lantern Tour Chalmette
Battlefield, 8606 West St. Bernard Highway, Chalmette. Tickets are now on
sale, through Wed. for the Jan. 12 event. Participants take a lantern-lit
tour through the American and British camps, eavesdropping on planning
strategy sessions, soldiers swapping stories around campfires and worrying
about the fate of the city. Tickets are $4, free for children younger than
5; tours set out every 10 minutes, first tour begins at 6 p.m., last at
8:30. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be sold at the door.
Purchase at the Visitor Center or call 589-3882, ext. 225 for credit card
purchase. Free shuttles will run from the St. Bernard Parish Courthouse to
the battlefield.
