Craig:

It is my understanding from the Archdiocesan Office of Education that the
Archdiocese will BEGIN gutting St, Mark Church sometime during February.

>From what I was told, after gutting, the church will be boarded up. Isn't

this a violation of the parish code? As of today, the church has not been
gutted, the grass needs cutting, the grounds have debris scattered
throughout, the portable buildings are scattered around the parking lot, and
there is also a small boat filled with debris sitting between the sidewalk
and the street, near the rear section of the cafeteria facing Corinne Drive.
I find it interesting that he homes nearest St. Mark Church are in limbo,
compared to the rest of the neighborhood. I suspect that the condition and
lack of information concerning what will happen to the church is impacting
decisions. Specifically, what will happen to the land if the Archdiocese
decides to sell the property?&nbs p;

I don't want to see the church destroyed, because this area is coming back
strong, and St. Mark Church will be needed. On the other hand, I do not see
why the Archdiocese should be exempt from removing the debris and cleaning
the grounds ASAP.

On a similar note, there is one home directly across from the church that
has a work order number on it, but no demolition sticker. It has never been
gutted, and is only one of two homes left on Corinne Drive that hasn't been
gutted. I didn't catch the address, but it is the third house from the
corner of Missouri, on Corinne, directly across from the church.

I know you are fighting an uphill battle with the Archdiocese, but the
Archdiocese operates in much the same manner as a business, so there is no
reason that it should receive special treatment.
