Have been watching a lot of the ceremonies for our late President.  One
thing struck me as I was watching:  It can be plenty to be a good and
decent, honorable man.  This was a man who had the Presidency thrust upon
him and in retrospect did a pretty good job.  At the time of the pardon I
was opposed to it but it would have done the country no good to have gone
thru an impeachment of Nixon and possibly seeing him in prison.
 
One thing that struck me when watching his former associates and
congressional friends was how they talked about his ability to work across
the aisle when he was in Congress.  That's an attribute that is sorely
missing in the Congress these days  and it is something we could really use
now.
