St. Bernard Parish Red Cross to re-open office soon

The St. Bernard Chapter of the Red Cross will reopen a Chalmette office
about March 1 and one of its features will be a program offering counseling
for victims of Hurricane Katrina, officials said in a recent news release.

The location for the new office will be announced soon, said Judy
Hoffmesiter, head of the local chapter and also a member of the Parish
Council.

"This will be the first time in 18 months'' the Red Cross in St. Bernard has
operated out of a permanent home, Hoffmeister said in the news release on
St. Bernard Parish government's website, www.sbpg.net. 

Lisa Smith, administrative assistant to Hoffmeister, addressed the Parish
Council at a Feb. 6 meeting, saying a counseling program through the Red
Cross will be available for Katrina victims.
