Small business owners urged to submit applications this week

Louisiana Economic Development and Louisiana Recovery Authority officials urge small businesses still interested in applying for Louisiana Business Recovery Grants to submit their completed applications in person through a local intake center before the grant application deadline, 5 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2007. LED's website, LouisianaForward.com <http://louisianaforward.com> , also lists local intake centers.

While the grant program application period ends Friday, applications for loans will continue to be accepted until the funds have been expended. Anyone interested in applying for a Louisiana Business Recovery Grant should review the eligibility requirements at LouisianaForward.com <http://louisianaforward.com> or call the program's 24-hour helpline at 1-877-217-1777.

After Friday, applications for grants will be reviewed for eligibility and completeness by participating community-based financial organizations. Final assessment for grant approval will be conducted by an independent review panel comprised of business and community leaders from impacted regions served by the program. The panel's participants will represent the diversity of businesses from the regions in both sector makeup and business type. Information regarding eligibility and frequently asked questions is also available on LED's website.

The Louisiana Business Recovery Grant and Loan Program is funded through federal hurricane recovery dollars approved for Louisiana in response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
