The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs (LDVA) is the newest cabinet level agency within the Executive Department. In 2003 I was honored to be selected by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco as its first secretary. This past year, over 30,000 claims were processed for Louisiana veterans and over $693 million in compensation payments were received.
