A sex offender from Texas living in St. Bernard Parish has been booked on
several obscenity charges, authorities said.

Benjamin James Wiley, 23, has been booked with four counts of obscenity for
allegedly exposing himself to women in three separate incidents in
Chalmette, said Maj. John Doran of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.
Wiley, who was living temporarily at 2021 Munster Blvd. in Meraux, was also
booked with stalking, Doran said.

Doran said a woman complained to authorities that Wiley had exposed himself
to her at a Chalmette daiquiri shop May 20. She said she fled, but he
followed her and after she stopped at a gas station, he approached her
vehicle and told her he had been "watching her all night and could have her
if he wanted."

He again followed her when she left the gas station but she was able to lose
him, authorities said.

Doran said bartenders at the daiquiri shop recognized Wiley when he returned
to the bar several days later and alerted the sheriff's office, which
arrested him for indecent exposure.

During their investigation, authorities discovered that Wiley had been
convicted in Texas for indecent exposure in 2003. The Sheriff's Office
booked him with three more counts of indecent exposure Thursday after three
other women said he exposed himself to them during two incidents inside a
Chalmette store.

Doran said the count of stalking was added Friday in connection with Wiley's
alleged chasing of the woman on May 20.
