I have always held Mr. Turner in the highest regard and I understand the
difficult challenges that he has ahead of it. One suggestion that I would
like to make is to have the levee board spray weed killer to kill the
overgrown weeds, trees, etc. in the canal itself. I live by the 90 arpent
canal and if you stand on the bridge going into Corinne Estates, you will
see weeds from the canal that are as high as the bridge. At least if the
canal were sprayed, once we have another heavy rain it will push the dead
bushes, grass, etc.to the junction at the 40 arpent canal, where it could be
pick up and eliminated once and for all. The nutria that used to be in the
canals have disappeared. Great, except that survived off of vegetation,
which in a normal enviroment would be a benefit. I have been told that this
spray, because it falls on the canal water, is expensive. Drastic times
call for action. With all the overgrown weeds, etc. throughout the canal,
the rats have taken over. You can see them running accross the base of the
canals, hidden, in part, by the high grass.

I know that the grass killer is expensive, but at least one treatment
throughout the canal can only improve the flow of water during heavy rains.
