Second Phase of Repairs to Superdome Expected to be Complete for Saints' Preseason Opener

The second phase of the Louisiana Superdome's $210 million restoration project is anticipated to be finished for the Saints' August 10 preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills. The project will not only repair damages the Superdome sustained due to Hurricane Katrina but will also modernize the building and bring it up to par with other facilities in the country. Library Services Return in Metarie

Thanks to a $12.2 million dollar grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the Gulf Coast Library Project, library services are once again available in the Lakeshore area of Metarie. The Gulf Cost Library Project provides modular buildings to libraries that were damaged as a result of the 2005 hurricanes. This week the Lakeshore Library in Jefferson Parish received a temporary building to use while the permanent facility is being rebuilt. New Orleans CVB Launches Interactive Tourist Website

New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitor's Bureau (NOMCVB) recently launched 24Nola, an interactive planning website for visitors to the New Orleans area. The website offers itinerary planning tools for tourists who want to experience New Orleans' history, culture and dining the way locals do. The 24Nola website is part of the New Orleans CVB's Forever New Orleans Campaign, recommended by Louisiana Recovery Authority Board and funded through CDBG funds. To make your own 24 hour itinerary click here <http://www.24nola.com/> .

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated South Louisiana, claiming 1,464 lives, destroying more than 200,000 homes and 18,000 businesses. The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the planning and coordinating body that was created in the aftermath of these storms by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to lead one of the most extensive rebuilding efforts in the world. The LRA is a 33-member body which is coordinating across jurisdictions, supporting community recovery and resurgence, ensuring integrity and effectiveness, and planning for the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana.
