St. Bernard Parish to unveil new tourism website

Hoping to boost tourism in St. Bernard Parish, the St. Bernard Tourist
Commission plans to unveil a new website this week. 

Elizabeth "Gidget'' McDougall, the parish tourism director, told the Parish
Council that the site, www.VisitStBernard.com, should be up and running by
week's end. 

"We have things that we think visitors would see and want to do,'' she said.


McDougall said the tourism website would link to the parish government's
website, www.sbpg.net. Likewise, the parish government website will link to
the tourism site. 

Creation of the tourism website is being financed with part of a $200,000
grant the Tourist Commission received for marketing, McDougall said. 

The site will showcase the parish's history, culture, attractions and
activities.
