Jer,

Does this make you a yellow-dog Republican? I think I am as conservative as
any other conservative, but I also thing the National and especially the
State party have lost the path that Reagan showed us.

**Well, Yes. However, I'm disappointed by happenings in the party, but much
can probably be contributed to leadership, courage and pressure by the
nation's left to become liberal <G>.

In fairness however to my party, I must admit that the same can be true of
the liberal party who has become more leftist and spinning out of control to
socialism and beyond--the "anything goes and usually does" moral bent. It
can be contributed as well to ineffective leadership, courage and pressure
by the conservatives to reform and accept a better taste of morality and
moral responsibility.

Having been educated at a liberal college, I am convinced that higher
education is breeding liberal thought and contemplation--in a factory
"conveyor belt" analogy. It's evident on the street, in social scenes and
throughout the land. Judges are making laws instead of interpreting the law.
The more liberties folks desire, the more they receive, and the more
complacent in responsibilities and liberal in ideas.

Public servants carry with them the responsibility of their mandates by the
people (or get chastised or replaced).

" On a local level, party means squat. "

I disagree. The parties infiltrate the state. When one is liberal with the
state, he/she is thusly so for the nation and vice versa for the
conservatives. Political ideas transcend in the trickle town effect from
national to local much as fashion does from California and New York to other
areas. Ideas spread like either hopes or ideas depending upon the
viewpoints.

If a politician does good for the public good, it is therefore his/her job
and expected to do such. Nothing new here. We do not expect an elected
official to do badly, or we would not have based out hopes on seeing this
person win the election. We base our vote that we are electing the official
(though many of our vote are just one of a win or loss for the candidate.)

" As for myself, as of 3:00 yesterday afternoon, I am no longer registered
as a Republican either, changing to an independent."

**Good for you. At least you're still interested in an election. Remember
there are times when candidates are "not your cup 'o' tea. Follow the spiel
during the election. If it's not what you wish to hear, switch to coffee to
get your caffeine? Does this reinforce your "independence" with the
switchover?

Party individuals go through a wave of platform ideas and morality. Many
believe they should change accordingly with national trends. Don't they
realize that time doesn't change goodness, but people do a hell'uv'a job at
it?

" By going Democrat, he picks up an easy 25-30% of the votes "

**Surely, he'll catch the liberal extremists, inner city/black votes, and
whatever. The rest of the state will go to the strength of those who are
diehard to seeing good change (yes, every time a new face steps in, a change
will occur somewhere) and in this case, progress and a better chance at
recovery.

At this point I'll make a prediction. The race is Mr. Jindal's to lose. 63
current ratings currently can mean he can take the 50% + 1 and avoid a
runoff. Many believe this. I expect it.

Btw, I haven't heard anyone else mention their religious beliefs? I cannot
find it on websites. Is it pride to remain neutral of belief in God? If so,
the ACLU must be really doing a good job along side of our universities.

Note: There are no winners or losers in discussion of politics--just hot air
and lots of flies <chuckle>. May the best "governor-expect" win--then we'll
see if there's more politics than state-wide progress/success.
