Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco joins governors from across the South for the 73rd Annual Southern Governors' Association Meeting in Biloxi, Miss. For three days, the Southern states' chief executives will discuss a variety of issues, including fast-changing economic conditions, availability and affordability of property insurance, meeting the energy industry's workforce needs and obesity as a growing health crisis.

Governor Blanco congratulates DHH Secretary Dr. Fred Cerise on his move to LSU; names Dr. Roxane Townsend as his replacement
BATON ROUGE - Governor Kathleen Babineaux ! Blanco today named Dr. Roxane Townsend as secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. The appointment comes as the current secretary, Dr. Fred Cerise, accepts a position as Louisiana State University System Vice President for Health Affairs and Medical Education.

BATON ROUGE - Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco issued the following statement toda! y after learning of Colorado Rep. Ton Tancredo's (R-Littleton) call for a moratorium on Katrina spending. Citing a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report, Tancredo characterized federal recovery aid as "runaway government spending."
