The latest National Weather Service dispatch says a patch of disturbed
weather off the eastern coast of Florida is showing no signs of development,
but area emergency preparedness officials and residents continue to monitor
it.

Some computer models have the system moving across Florida and into the
eastern Gulf of Mexico, where it could strengthen and potentially threaten
the south Louisiana coast.

Bob Turner, executive director of the Lake Borgne Levee District in St.
Bernard Parish, told the St. Bernard Parish Council Tuesday night that the
district's pumping stations are all in good working condition and would be
staffed around-the-clock in the event of an emergency.

Officials in other parishes also say they are watching the developments
