Landrieu Statement on

Bobby Jindal Election

Senator secures leadership, key committee commitments to

meet with Governor-elect and advance Louisiana's needs.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., released a statement
tonight following the election of Congressman Bobby Jindal, R-La., as
Louisiana's next Governor.

Sen. Landrieu said:

"I congratulate Governor-elect Jindal and look forward to working together
with him to move Louisiana forward. We campaign as Democrats and
Republicans, but we serve as Louisianians. Our state continues to face
incredible challenges that require us to work together across party lines,
racial divides and geographic boundaries to advance Louisiana's cause.
Together, we can create hope, promote reform and deliver opportunity across
our state. Louisiana's leaders have no greater responsibility.

"I have contacted key Senate leaders and committee chairs and secured
commitments to meet with Governor-elect Jindal in the coming weeks to
advance our state's needs. There are a range of vital issues on which our
Louisiana team will have to work together, including appropriations, tax
incentives, hurricane recovery, disaster preparation, transportation,
housing, energy, health care, veterans' facilities, ports and waterways,
education, levee protection and coastal restoration. By speaking with one
strong voice, we greatly enhance our chances for success.

"I stand ready to work with Governor-elect Jindal as we champion our great
state and her interests. Louisiana's fights are our fights, and we must
fight them together."
