Too bad they didn't ask Sen. Landrieu yesterday if she thought Eddie Jordan
should resign. I can't help but wonder if her answer would have been
supportive of his staying. I guess it's always easier to agree with a play
call after it's been run successfully.

Landrieu Statement on

Eddie Jordan Resignation
Stepping down of NOLA District Attorney is "a right and necessary step" to
fighting crime wave, Senator says.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., today commented on the
resignation of New Orleans District Attorney Eddie Jordan.

Sen. Landrieu said:

"I support this decision and think this is the right and necessary step in
order to rebuild confidence in the office of the District Attorney, which is
a crucial element of the criminal justice system that has been badly broken
and is in need of repair. This resignation will clear the way for new
leadership that is necessary.

"The mayor and coalition of business leaders will have my full support in
helping to provide necessary resources to help with this important effort."
