One misconception about slavery is that it only occurred in the U.S. and
only to the Negroid Race. History occurred over many thousands of years and
also including my Italian ancestory which were fed to lions, burned at the
stake, forced to fight in arenas, were crucified, and the beat goes on for
so many other cultures.

So, why is it that this one race is being courted as an only victim to
history's past? How is it that over the past 40 years, when everything to
education to housing opportunities are leveled on its playing field to ALL
and some cultures do not fully take advantage of grants and opportunities
given to ALL?

Enough of one culture given priority over another. No one in great numbers
that I've seen has been enslaved for the past couple of hundred years.
Furthermore, unless the attitude that America owes retribution, freebies,
etc. in sympathetic response ceases, failing to address America as
Americans, based on ethics, hard-work (yes, the Protestant work ethic
regardless if you're Catholic, Jewish or Middle-Eastern), devotion, respect,
law-abiding and wanting to make the positive steps needed to improve one's
life--America will self-implode. It will erode from the inside out as a
cancer offering no repose or sympathetic ease of suffering.

Too many non-minorities are bending over backwards to appease rather than
face the best that minorities have to offer: marches, city-burnings, threats
of boycotts, harm to communities and economic stability, etc.

What many minorities believe is that were the only cultures/races hurt in
history. Just about every race and culture had its tortures, rapes,
brutality--etc. whether it be by conquering, condemnation for their
religious beliefs/creeds or political ideology. Since WHEN is one life more
precious than the next because the poor and rich have suffered by some
abhorring action. (If you don't believe the rich have suffered, ask
Anastasia or perhaps Marie Antoinette and Families whom literally lost their
heads over trying to make things work <smile>>

Other than that, Wendy. You're right. Oversensitivity is how we now exists
in our everyday lives, at work, on the street and in our homes. Because of
the trend to protect the few, many more millions have to suffer needlessly.

David,

The difference between Puerto Ricans, Italians, etc and blacks is that
they were enslaved against their will for over two hundred years where the
"word" was derived. Don't get me wrong, I think people are way too over
sensitive about things, but the argument that the n word has a deeper more
prejudicial symbolic meaning is why people get upset.
