The official opening, held today, featured a ribbon cutting, dedication and tours of the renovated health facility. The unit will serve approximately 165 patients monthly as more people who were displaced after Hurricane Rita, return to their homes. The health unit is located at 107 Recreation Center Lane in Cameron Parish.

The historic Perley Thomas streetcars returned to St. Charles Ave this past weekend for the first time in over two years since Hurricane Katrina. Volunteer Opportunities at Musician's Village in New Orleans

"Home is Where the Music Lives," a day of service organized by the University of Louisiana System, will be held on December 1 at Musician's Village. Musician's Village is a New Orleans Habitat for Humanity neighborhood, founded by Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis, located in the 9th Ward for musicians displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. UL System students, faculty and staff are encouraged to join in the recovery efforts. Those interested in participating may register online at www.ulsystem.net <http://www.ulsystem.net> .

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated South Louisiana, claiming 1,464 lives, destroying more than 200,000 homes and 18,000 businesses. The Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) is the planning and coordinating body that was created in the aftermath of these storms by Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco to lead one of the most extensive rebuilding efforts in the world. The LRA is a 33-member body which is coordinating across jurisdictions, supporting community recovery and resurgence, ensuring integrity and effectiveness, and planning for the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana.
