Have you said thanks?

Nearly 5,000 Louisianians have signed the "Louisiana Gives Thanks" letter of
appreciation for President Bush, members of Congress and the American people
for their ongoing commitment to New Orleans and Louisiana in the aftermath
of Katrina. This message of Thanksgiving is important not only because of
the approaching holiday, but also because of the historic investments
Washington has made in our recovery.

It takes just a minute. Click here to join us in saying thanks

While the past two years have been full of challenges, President Bush and
Congress recently took another step toward fulfilling the pledge to do
whatever it takes to see New Orleans and Louisiana rise again. First,
Congress successfully voted to override the President's veto of the Water
Resources Development Act (WRDA), which included nearly $7 billion in
critical hurricane and flood protection projects for Louisiana. Later in the
week, the House and Senate approved a defense bill, which included $3
billion for Louisiana that will fill a substantial portion of the Road Home
budget shortfall and provide rebuilding grants for tens of thousands of
Louisiana homeowners.

Because of these and other earlier investments tens of thousands of homes
and affordable rental units are being rebuilt. Children are returning to
better schools, and small businesses are recovering. Hundreds of miles of
wetlands, levees and flood walls are being repaired and restored. And hope
and optimism are returning to Louisiana.

That's something we can all be grateful for--so join us in saying thanks!
