[StBernard] Question for Wes

Gaby,

It all depends on how your email program is setup to handle replies. Since
you are using AOL, I can't give any specific details, but you can look in
your settings or options for reply settings.

In Outlook, the email program I use, the options I have when replying to a
message are:
* Do not include original message
* Attach original message
* Include original message text
* Include and indent original message text
* Prefix each line of the original message

I use the middle option, "Include original message text", but you may see
some messages that are indented and some that have a prefix, usually ">" or
">>".

Without going back, I think most of your replies have the original message
indented and below your reply, which is fine. I think some of the confusion
may come in because you sign your name at the very bottom, underneath even
the message you are replying to.

Another important thing to remember is that all messages are plain text,
black and white. When you are composing your email, AOL may give you the
option to change font sizes, colors, styles (italics, bold, etc). All of
that is lost when I strip the messages before sending them out.

When highlighting a section in a post and then 'reply', the highlighted
section comes up in the new post looking like part of my own. This can cause
confusion, as a copied/replied question with an answer looks like another
question.
Any advice? Should I add quotation marks? Usually in a highlighted reply it
automatically does the <<>> but they wont show. Thanks in advance for your
expertise

Gaby
