Isn't it time for a class action lawsuit against the Stafford Act? Look at
the damage (emotional as well as financial) this shortsighted Act has
inflicted on those who suffered so much loss due to natural disasters. Does
anyone know of an Attorney who wants to make a name for himself by
representing those adversely affected by lack of decent housing after
Katrina/Rita/Wilma/Ivan/etc./etc... due to the dipsh!t rules of the Stafford
Act? And what about every taxpayer in this country? There are still
hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands, of Mobile homes "stored" in various
locations around the perimeter of the hurricane devastation area. Like the
thousands that were and still are stored at the Hope, Arkansas airport at a
price of over $20K of our tax dollars per MONTH! They sit and they rot and
we pay for the privilege if watching this travesty. And this is not the
only boondoggle storage facility just in my general area in NE Texas. The
Stafford Act would not allow this size Mobile home to be placed in a flood
prone area. Hello!!! Thanks in part to the Corps of Engineers in St.B.P.,
where in a hurricane prone area is a NON-flood prone area? And it isn't
just South La. This country has coastline that is vulnerable to flooding
all around it. The whole U.S. population of taxpayers should be party to
this class-action suit! Sorry to get so riled up about this but it still
just irks me to no end. Uggghhhh!!!
