Congressional Quarterly Report: Landrieu Again Among Senate's Most
Bipartisan

WASHINGTON - United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., was one of the
most moderate and bipartisan members of the Senate last year, according to
an annual study by Congressional Quarterly. In 2007, she crossed the aisle
to forge consensus with Senate Republicans more often than all but one
Senate Democrat, Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb.

"I do not approach Senate votes as a Democrat or as a Republican," Sen.
Landrieu said. "I support the President when it is right for Louisiana,
including voting to shelve irresponsible taxes that left Louisianians
footing the bill for national energy policy. But I will also continue to
stand up to the White House when Administration Policy hurts us. That is
why I led the effort to overturn the President's insistence on a burdensome
ten percent local match requirement for hurricane recovery projects and
voted to override his veto of $7 billion in necessary Louisiana coastal
restoration and navigation projects."

With Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, Sen. Landrieu currently serves as co-chair
of the Common Ground Coalition. The bipartisan group of Senators discusses
key issues of the 110th Congress in order to build consensus for bipartisan,
commonsense legislation.
