The St. Bernard Parish Office of Community Development will stay open later
on Mondays for home condemnation appeals only, the parish said in a news
release today.

The St. Bernard Parish Council recently condemned a number of structures
that failed to meet the parish's codes outlining minimum housing standards.
Homeowners who appeal are entitled to a hearing before final demolition can
be ordered.

For the next several weeks, the department's Office of Safety and Permits
will stay open until 6 p.m. on Mondays. The office is located in room 216 on
the second floor of the government complex at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in
Chalmette .

The office hours normally are Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30
p.m.
For more information, call the office at 278-4310.
