I've said it many times, the biggest lesson Hurricane Katrina has taught the
nation is there were no white people living in New Orleans area prior to the
storm.

This past week American Idol had their second charity night (Idol Gives
Back). In the 2 1/2 hour show, they had a number of segments that focused on
New Orleans.

During one of those segments, my seven year old turned to my wife and I and
asked "Why is everyone black?"

I think that tells us what the national perception of New Orleans is.
