Meraux man booked with aggravated incest

A Meraux man has been booked with aggravated incest stemming from an alleged
incident in 2006, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said Friday. 

The man, who authorities would not identify to protect the identity of his
daughter, who is now 13, had been sought in connection with the alleged
incident since a warrant was sworn for his arrest in March, the sheriff's
office said in a news release. 

The man, who is in his 40s, was found living in a trailer in Meraux and
arrested Friday.

The news release said the case came to light while the girl was being
questioned by juvenile detectives in an unrelated matter. It allegedly
occured in February 2006 when she was 11. 

The arrested man remains in St. Bernard Parish Prison in Chalmette. Bond has
not been set pending an appearance before a judge.
