The following meeting has been rescheduled from July 10th to July 17th. The time and location remain the same.

Orleans and St. Bernard Parish General Information Meeting for the Greater New Orleans Area Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, 100-Year Level of Protection

On July 17th, 2008 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting to provide the community with information on the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, 100-Year Level of Protection. Specifically, this meeting will focus on projects that will affect Orleans and St. Bernard Parish communities, particularly the Bayou Bienvenue and Bayou Dupre Control Structures, Caernarvon Floodwall, Chalmette Loop Levee, and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal surge protection barrier as discussed in IERs 8, 9, 10, and 11 Tier 2 Borgne*, as well as the potential areas from which borrow materials may be obtained (IERs 25 and 26). This is an important meeting that will allow residents to ask questions about the projects.

The meeting will be held at:

Location
CF Rowley Alternative School
49 Madison Street
Chalmette, LA 70043

Date
Thursday July 17th, 2008
Open House from 6 PM
Presentation 7 PM

The purpose of each IER is to analyze the impacts of the range of alternatives, analyze the direct, indirect, and cumulative impacts of each and identify a preferred alternative for the hurricane system.

The Corps’ alternative arrangements have been coordinated with, and reflect the input of, numerous key federal agencies including the Council on Environmental Quality, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Additional input into this process was provided by the State of Louisiana resource agencies and citizens from the impacted area.

For more information on the projects that will be discussed, please visitwww.nolaenvironmental.gov <http://www.nolaenvironmental.gov> , and select projects to view IERs 8, 9, 10, 11 Tier 2 Borgne* and “borrow” (IERs 25 and 26).

*IER 11 Tier 2 environmental documents will better define the actual location of surge barrier protection structures.
