ST BERNARD PARISH 10AM UPDATE

PRESIDENT TAFFARO AND SEVERAL COUNCIL MEMBERS, ALONG WITH MEMBERS OF HIS
STAFF MET THIS MORNING TO UPDATE THE RESIDENTS OF ST BERNARD PARISH

Sewer pumping stations are being started up at this time due to the Entergy
power now being supplied. Sewerage pumping trucks are expected to be gone by
the end of the day, unless a pumping station is unable to run from Entergy
provided power.

The water plant is now producing water with greater speed due to the power
being supplied by Entergy. The increased production is allowing the water
plant to not only meet the supply demand, but they are also able to build up
the reserves also.

Entergy is estimating that they have about 50% of the parish power restored,
and they also expect to have up to 75 or 80% by the end of the day.

The Mobil refinery is gearing up today. They expect to be fully operational
in a few days.

The Murphy refinery is expected to start up full production today.

Domino Sugar is expecting to be producing again tomorrow.

The Targa Gas Plant is busy cleaning up and is assessing what they need to
start production.

The Animal Control Shelter will receive the returning animals tomorrow.

The St. Bernard Parish Public Works department is busy trying to clear all
roads that they can without endangering their work crews today.

The Government Complex Building is now running off of Entergy supplied
power. All employees are asked to return to work on Monday September 8, 2008
for their regularly scheduled time, unless they are called by their
supervisor to report earlier. All returning employees are asked to adhere to
the dress code when returning to work.

The Sheriff's Department is still enforcing the 11pm through 6am curfew.
Please do not move around the parish unless you have a compelling reason to
do so during the curfew hours. The National Guard and the Sheriff's
department are still increasing patrols for all neighborhoods.

Please remember

FEMA is now offering individual assistance to those residents that either
call 1-800-621-3362 (1-800-621-FEMA) or go to the FEMA website which is
fema.gov.

Tune to the local media for information. Also, St. Bernard Parish Government
will be issuing updates on its website at www.sbpg.net
<http://www.sbpg.net/> , on its cable access station at channel 76 for Cox
Communications customers and on its emergency communications radio station
at 1680-AM.
