Southeast Louisiana is now in the 5 day cone of error for a possible
landfall of Hurricane Ike.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that Ike will be entering the Gulf
of Mexico as a category 3 hurricane by Wednesday.

The current forecast track has shifted further west than previous
predictions.

There is still significant uncertainty in the forecast track, but
Southeast Louisiana is in the center of the cone of error, and residents
should prepare now.

The cone of error includes the entire state of Florida along with the
coast of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

If the current forecast track holds, Ike could be making landfall in
Louisiana by next weekend.

Stay tuned to WWL AM & FM and WWL.com for the very latest.
