Elderly or disabled persons who qualify for "Power to Care," energy
assistance, which used to be called "Helping Hands," may apply for help with
repairs for electrical meter pans damaged by Hurricane Gustav.

 

Those people may apply for assistance from the St. Bernard Parish Council on
Aging, but they must call 504-278-4335 to make an appointment. The office at
8201-W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette is open Mondays through Fridays from
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
